I’m back chatting with another world renowned personal trainer, fitness expert, and celebrity coach Gunnar Peterson. I first stumbled up on Gunnars work with these amazing core strength 30 minute workout DVD’s I used in college- I know that seems like forever ago- but he trained Brooke Burke and I thought okay, I’m giving this a go! His workouts are practical, yet push you to the limit and not to mention, he’s worked with THE biggest brands in the health and fitness community and is sought after as a fitness professional. Names you’ll recognize such as Sports Illustrated, Vogue, Glamour, Men’s Fitness, Women’s Fitness, In Style, Self, Shape; and client list includes Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Brooke Burke, Jennifer Lopez, Angelina Jolie, Sofia Vergara, and the list goes on! Everyone, meet Gunnar, learn what inspires him, and how he keeps life simple.
I make conscious decisions in the gym, at the table, and when it’s time to rest, and I make those decisions every day. Over time the sum total of those decisions proves itself out in how I feel, how I perform, and how I look.
I keep learning, I keep pushing, and I keep showing up. The game comes to you when you are a constant in a sea of transience.
The answer to that would be a book in and of itself! I focus on muscle confusion, high intensity intervals, multi-joint movements, and a dose of levity every time it seems like it’s too hard!
I have those every day! They are disguised in references to my mother or in adding an additional workout in a given week, but when you look closely, they are all versions of validation!

Today. It looks just like today. I make my days. I choose my days. As long as I wake up and as long as my family is healthy, and as long as I get my workout in-EVERYTHING is great.
Whichever one is the biggest! Probably the morning meal. I love it but there’s never enough!
The same things that inspire me: My kids, my wife, my brother, and my parents. That’s it. And my dogs. And my clients. Not always in that order though…
Dumbbell squat to curl to twisting press. I feel better just answering that question.
There is such a variety of modalities and protocols out there that answer would be another book! The efficacy comes in the adherence. The more you do it, the more you get out of it. So when people are on point, it works automatically. Which means, how do you get people to keep coming back? Great parking and clean bathrooms…
Stay natural, stay clean, stay honest, and have fun with your training. Levity keeps you lean.
Hopefully more of the same. I have a lot of fun projects in the works right now. Fitness can take you anywhere. It’s universal so keep your passport handy and stay in shape so you don’t have to get in shape!
I love it because it’s real. It’s not slanted, and it’s pure. That’s rare in fitness today where the bottom line is usually the number people work hardest at improving…
